Ella Britton Wins Chrissie Barker Award
A London ad legend, Chrissie Barker was the first female Editor of Campaign magazine before joining JWT as the Head of Public Relations and Marketing.
After Chrissie passed away in 2006, JWT created an award in her honor, which is presented to a recent graduate that exhibits a notable performance.
Now in its 10th year, the Chrissie Barker Award grants recipients a two-week, all-expenses paid trip to any JWT office in the world – plus a handbag, in homage to Chrissie’s glamorous fashion sensibility.
In addition to being evaluated by their performance, applicants are required to submit an essay, which acts as a nod to Chrissie’s passion for the written word. This year’s essays were judged by Jeremy Bullmore, one of JWT’s most famous creatives, and Claire Beale, Campaign’s Global Editor-in-Chief.
This year’s winner is Ella Britton, a Junior Consultant in the Innovation Group, well-known by colleagues for her infectious, positive energy and strong work ethic.
During her time at JWT, Ella has become a regular contributor to the Innovation Group’s editorial platform, JWTintelligence.com, and a master interviewer. Beyond her day job, Ella is a driving force behind JWT London’s Labs Presents sessions and takes on pro bono projects, including the TAP charity.
For her two-week trip, Ella will visit the Sydney office – a fitting choice, as Chrissie herself was a proud Aussie.
Past Chrissie Barker Award winners have gone on to impressive careers at Facebook and Google, as well as with JWT. With Ella’s talent and ambition, she will no doubt go on to reach great heights as well.
