The D&AD Professional Awards 2017 announced their Pencil Winners for the best creative work from around the world.

Creative teams from across our network walked away with a total of twenty Pencils: two Gold, four Graphite, and fourteen Wood across multiple categories.

JWT Amsterdam’s awards magnet “The Next Rembrandt,” earned a Gold Pencil in Innovative Use of Technology, as well as two Graphite Pencils and two Wood Pencils.

We also took home a Graphite Pencil in Service Design for “Touchable Ink.” Given the high cost of braille printers, the “Touchable Ink” effort, born from a collaboration between JWT Bangkok, Samsung, and the Thammasat University in Thailand, was designed to create a special ink that could transform home printers into braille printers.

Earning another Graphite Pencil in the Prototypes category was the “Blood Banking” app from JWT Bangalore and Mirum India. The app allowed users to save their own blood in a Blood Banking Account that they can withdraw for their own use or transfer to someone else in need.

We also received eleven Wood Pencils for work from our offices in Brazil, New York, Colombia, and Canada.

JWT New York’s work for Black Lives Matter, “Unsafety Check”received a Wood Pencil in the Use of Social category and JWT Colombia’s “Lifesaver Backpack” received three Wood Pencils in the Direct Product and Service, Product Design, and Direct Innovation categories.

JWT Canada’s “#20MinutesofAction4Change” received three Wood Pencils in the Tactical Digital Marketing, Advertising and Marketing Communications/Not for Profit, and Direct Integrated Campaigns categories. And JWT Brazil’s “Donate the Bars” work received two Wood Pencils in the Digital Tools and Utilities and Use of Online Advertising categories
