JWT KSA wins Festival Grand Prix at MENA Effie 2019 for STC’s “Roaming Puppet”
JWT MENA Network ranks #2 with additional 5 Gold, 5 Silver and 4 Bronze awards
14 November 2019 : Dubai- JWT MENA excelled at the MENA Effies 2019 last week in Dubai, converting 23 of their shortlisted entries into 15 awards, including the one and only Grand Prix of the show, the Festival Grand Prix, for Saudi Telecom Company’s “Roaming Puppet” by JWT KSA in the Sustained Success category.
As a network, JWT MENA was officially ranked #2 at the award show, bringing home a further 5 Gold, 5 Silver and 4 Bronze awards. The MENA Effies celebrate demonstrable and effective marketing communication campaigns with results that drive change for businesses and the world.
“Roaming Puppet” originally launched in Saudi Arabia in 2015 as an innovative content stream that educated and demonstrated to its audience, the affordability of STC’s roaming charges. It paved the way for STC to launch the MENA region’s first online entertainment hub. Three years, four seasons and 24 episodes later, Roaming Puppet’s hilarious antics are a massive success not only with viewers, but with Saudis spreading their wings and roaming worry-free.
The most awarded brand at the show was STC. JWT KSA has been STC’s marketing communications partner for over 12 years. This longstanding relationship saw JWT add to the Grand Prix and pick up a further 3 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze for STC campaigns “What Are We Allowing”,“The Big Shutdown”, “LaYwagif”and “The Year Banking Changed”.
In total, JWT’s awarded work was created for 7 different agency clients, across 5 diverse business sectors, within 5 separate MENA markets, and spread over 10 independent Effie categories.
Other major JWT wins on the night included :
- Gold, Silver and Bronze awards for JWT Tunis and Tunisie Telecom’s “The Uncovered”, in the Positive Change Social Good Brands category, which saw thousands of female rural farmers finally incorporated into the governmental healthcare system, by transforming the complex social security process into a simple set-up on their feature phones.
- Gold for JWT Beirut and RDFL’s “Young Bride”,in the Positive Change Social Good Non Profit category, demonstrating how the agency ‘s work synchronized with the emerging zeitgeist in Lebanon, championing equality amongst women and men, and challenging the law on child marriage.
JWT Cairo and JWT Dubai also picked up prestigious Silver and Bronze MENA Effie awards for their campaigns for Vodafone Egypt, DHL Egyptand Coca-Cola Middle East. JWT KSA also took home a Silver award for work with Burger King™.
