Lately, corporate donations to the Red Cross have eclipsed those of individual Mexicans, making people feel their contribution is insignificant. So we built coin-operated kiddie rides featuring Red Cross ambulances, helicopters and boats, and placed them in parks, stores and malls across the nation. Kids and parents could give coins and instantly get a reward. The result was over 1.1 million dollars in media coverage during the first week alone, and collections increased by 23% compared to 2009.
