• JWT After Hours: Play ball!

Work hard, play hard. It’s the unofficial motto of the ad industry. And when JWTers are done cracking briefs and preparing for pitches, they’re up to some pretty interesting things.

In our New York office, a few JWTers have been stepping up to the plate and hitting home runs this summer—and we swear that isn’t just a really bad business metaphor. JWT New York’s top ranked softball team, The Commodores, have taken teamwork out of the office and into the baseball diamond.

Led by Coach and Copywriter Patrick Wagner, The Commodores have enjoyed a strong softball season showing just how well JWT works as ad team, sports team and everything in between. Wearing a custom designed logo by Outfielder and Graphic Designer, CJ Santaniello, The Commodores have played against various corporate teams in the New York City area.

Just last week, they played a special double header in Central Park’s North Meadow Field. After suffering a tough loss in Game 1, 5-3, they bounced back in Game 2, winning by a score of 9-0 against Oz Capital. Way to go!

The Commodores have been in it to win it since the season started in mid-April. From nail-biting, tie-breaker games to injuries in the name of winning, the team had more than a few memorable moments from the season. Some team favorites include: Ashley Carr and Stephanie Hague pitching a combined no-hitter, anything involving Bill Barrett, and of course, the post-game celebrations—because win or lose, there will be booze.

The final standings for playoffs have yet to be announced, but with an 8-3 record, they’re confident they’ll make it. The first playoff games take place August 10 at Pier 40, so if you’re in the area, put on your Commodore flair and come ready to cheer.
