With the Olympic Torch passed into the steady hands of David Beckham, England is poised to kick off the London 2012 Olympics. From the heart of it all, JWT London’s Olympic Mood Tracker tells us that England is gripped by Olympic-fever.

International sporting events have an unrivaled ability to build national pride, and the Olympics are no exception. JWT London’s Monthly Mood Tracker shows that British pride has increased to an impressive score of 7.66 out of 10.

Excitement for the Olympics has grown to 48%, and it appears that an increasing number of people believe the Games are good for Britain. It may come as no surprise that belief in the benefits of the Olympics come from the younger demographic; JWT London wonders, “maybe the younger generation, generally less cynical than the older generation, are looking forward to being in the spotlight.”

With the 2012 Euro Cup and Wimbledon over, we are counting down the days to the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremonies. If recent celebrations for the Royal Wedding and the Jubilee are any indication of England’s enthusiasm, the Games are sure to be a thrill. If you find yourself in London this month, consider yourself lucky!
